Theophany House Blessings
Each year after the Feast of Theophany (January 6), we bless our homes with holy water. The divine waters of the Jordan River enter our home. As the Jordan stops and reverses course, we too stop, enthralled with our Lord’s humble presence among us. We feel normal and even low at times; the House Blessing reminds us of our infinite value in the eyes of God, and beckons us to our heavenly destiny.
Christ desires to be with us and reclaim us as His own. He wants to get into our walls, our floors, our toys, our food, our thoughts – everywhere! Let’s allow Him in.
How to Schedule
Click here to view available time slots and to sign up. If none of these times work, please contact Tyler in the church office. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.
With Lent beginning February 23 this year, the final date for House Blessings is February 21.
How to Prepare
Fr. Joshua will bring everything needed for the blessing. Consider making the following arrangements:
- Have the entire family present, if possible.
- Have a list of all family members (first name only) to pray for.
- Have an icon of Christ available in a suitable place to gather for prayer.
- If you have a hand-censer, have it ready.
What Happens in the House Blessing
Fr. Joshua will bring a service booklet for all family members to follow along. We’ll bless every room of the home (including garages and basements).
The entire service lasts 10-15 minutes. If you’d like, before and after the service affords an opportunity for us to exchange a few words.
Who is this for?
Orthodox Christians, catechumens, and established inquirers who have spoken with Fr. Joshua and are planning to become catechumens.
